Our story

I wrote the map of the desert.

Peck's Mission was built by someone who spent years at the bedside — and then woke up on the other side of it.

Joe Peck on the way to surgery at Vanderbilt
JP

Joe Peck started his career as a U.S. Army combat medic, then worked in critical care as a CVICU technician — years spent walking patients and families through some of the most frightening moments of their lives. He believed he understood what patients went through. He was good at the work, and he cared about the people in front of him.

Then he became the patient. Brain surgery at Vanderbilt put him on the other side of the bed — and he learned, fast, how much he hadn't understood. How much of the fear comes simply from not knowing what happens next. How much of the experience never makes it into the chart.

You can be the best clinician in the room — even the best surgeon — and still have no idea what it's like to be the patient. I had to travel the territory before I could mark the X.

It began as a page for his family

During recovery, Joe built a simple page so his own family could follow along — to understand where he was in his care and what was coming next. It was the thing he'd needed and never had: a clear, human guide through a confusing and frightening process. That page became the seed of Your Journey.

What started as a way to keep his family informed grew into a conviction: that the gap between what a hospital captures and what a patient actually experiences is real, it's wide, and it can be closed with care and the right tools.

A company built on what the system doesn't see

Healthcare is very good at capturing numbers — vitals, codes, scores — and not nearly as good at capturing the narrative a patient is living through. Peck's Mission exists to help the system see the unseen: the questions, the fear, the human reality that shapes whether a patient feels cared for, long after the numbers are recorded.

That dual vantage point — the clinician who explains, and the patient who needs to understand — is the thesis behind everything the company builds. It's a software company. But the product was born at the bedside, on both sides of it, and it never forgets how much clarity was missing.

What we hold to

Be human at all costs

Care isn't about the scrubs or the uniform. It's about being a person with the patient. That belief shapes how the product speaks and behaves.

Education reduces fear; ignorance feeds it

Most fear in care comes from not understanding what's happening. Clarity is not a nicety — it's part of the treatment.

The whole person, not just the diagnosis

A patient carries more than a chart. The experience extends well beyond the exam room, and the product is designed to account for it.

Patient information is never the product

Ad-free, always. Privacy held as a first principle. We don't sell the patient out — to anyone, for anything.
